In 2012, the Archbishop of Milan accepted the petition to open the cause for the beatification and canonization of Fr. Giussani. The Secretary of Postulation is the main point of contact to oversee and coordinate any initiatives in his memory and for the use of related materials.

"To respond to the need that emerged in the lives of many people following the request to open the cause for beatification of Fr. Giussani to be able to pray through his intercession in a properly ordered way that corresponds to the true nature of his charism, the Fraternity asked and obtained approval from the competent ecclesial authority of an intercessory prayer to be used—note carefully!—for private devotion, the only kind of prayer the Church allows to a Servant of God, Fr. Giussani’s current status in the process of canonization.
We strongly discourage the composition or distribution of any other form of
prayer.

Merciful Father,
we thank You for having given
Your Church and the world
the Servant of God Father Luigi Giussani.
He, with his life lived with passion,
taught us to know and love Jesus Christ
present here and now,
to ask Him with humble certainty
that "the beginning of every day
be a yes to the Lord
who embraces us
and makes fruitful the soil of our heart
for the accomplishment
of His work in the world,
which is the victory over death and evil."
Grant, O Father,
through the intercession of Fr. Giussani,
according to Your will,
the grace we implore,
in the hope that he will soon be numbered
among Your saints.

Anniversary
The anniversary of Fr. Giussani’s death, which occurred on February 22, 2005, is remembered with Masses and other liturgies held throughout the world.
