Rosa das rosas. French and Spanish songs of the 13th-16th centuries

Vocal and Instrumental Group Psalterium
Coop. Edit. Nuovo Mondo - distr. Universal Music
2003

The words and music of these songs invite us above all to open ourselves up to simplicity, to the human feeling so original and pure as to be immediately convinced of its Redeemer. Here no position of wealth, of genius, of extrovert patience, of journeying together, none of all this is stronger than this simplicity and truth.
Yet we find it hard to understand them because we are far away from an approach to what is true and original, we are far away from human originality, we find it hard to identify with the Christian attitude that produced these songs; and
we have lost the paths that lead there.
We need to regain the human feeling that defines the judgment of the Christian. A person who gets up in the morning and fills with work his time, his space, his day, his relationships with people and things, animated and determined by awareness of his destiny, of his end of the ultimate: this is an intelligent
man, full of affection, this is a real man. It is awareness, the consciousness that opens up the dimensions of “being” and of beauty; it is the consciousness of being that opens the dimensions of the truth and beauty of the world which is Christ.
