Flooding: An unreserved friendship

Davide Prosperi's message to the Communion and Liberation movement on the emergency in Emilia-Romagna, with directions about how to help those affection.

Dearly beloved,
as you know the emergency caused by the flood in Emilia-Romagna is extremely serious. Many families have suffered enormous damage, suddenly finding themselves in the urgent need to find temporary accommodation to sleep and have access to electricity, gas, drinking water, etc. Although in great difficulty, many friends living in the affected areas have been able to react promptly, helping each other and offering shelter and help to those among them who are most in need. The way they are coping with such a situation together is a clear sign of how the education they have received can generate moving and unreserved friendship. We cannot help but feel that we are all involved: “If (one) part suffers, all the parts suffer with it” (1 Cor. 12:26).
I ask you to pray for the victims and those who are most severely affected that they will not lose heart, and I invite you to concretely support, according to your own capability, the efforts of our friends. For this purpose, we are in contact with the communities from the areas closest to the emergency to coordinate aid and participate in recovery activities. Through the local secretariats you will be told how you can provide your availability to help.
