Fr. Luigi Giussani (1922-2005)

Anniversary Masses: "That we may continue to better serve the church"

Sixteen years since the death of Fr. Giussani, and thirty-nine years since the Papal recognition of the Fraternity of CL, we offer prayerful intentions for masses taking place in Italy and around the world.

“In the difficult circumstances we are called to share with all our brothers and sisters, we ask the Lord to grant us the watchful and grateful awareness of the gift received in our encounter with Fr. Giussani’s charism, that we may continue to better serve the Church, recognizing that Christ dwells in every passing instant and, therefore, nothing is useless; everything is a sign of an indestructible positivity”.

Referring to the contribution Communion and Liberation can offer to the lives of all of us in such a challenging time, Fr. Carrón, President of the Fraternity of CL, wrote: “If we are faithful to the grace that has reached us through the charism of Fr. Giussani,–we who were attracted by this charism and desire to follow it–‘centered in Christ and in the Gospel,’ we can be ‘the arms, hands, feet, mind, and heart of a church which goes forth,’ (Pope Francis) collaborating with the pope for the future of the church in the world, a future described by Cardinal Ratzinger on the long-ago Christmas of 1969: ‘The future of the Church can and will issue from those whose roots are deep and who live from the pure fullness of their faith. She will enjoy a fresh blossoming and be seen as man’s home, where he will find life and hope beyond death.’ Only this newness can be credible today.”

The methods of participation in these masses will depend on Covid restrictions in place in each nation, and may vary from city to city.
The updated list of masses is available on the website.
