The Message of the Pope
"The Holy Father is pleased to have been informed of the Good Friday Stations of the Cross taking place once more in New York. He sends greetings to all those taking part and assures them of his union in prayer." From the Vatican, March 29, 2004.The Holy Father is pleased to have been informed of the Good Friday Stations of the Cross taking place once more in New York. He sends greetings to all those taking part and assures them of his union in prayer.
The commemoration of Christ’s death and resurrection reminds us that our Lord not only conquers the kingdom of sin but wins for us a new life. Sharing in the dignity of Christ’s life Christians are impelled to mend divisions, heal wounds and to re-establish unity (cf. Reconciliatio et Paenitentia, 3.)
His Holiness is confident that, like the annual pilgrimage from Macerata to Loreto, this powerful act of Christian witness on the streets of New York will grow in strength and witness.
As a pledge of Easter joy the Holy Father cordially imparts his Apostolic Blessing.
