Traces: A life that is written down

This year Tracce [Traces], the movement's international monthly magazine, turns 50 years old. The first issue dates to "December 1974" and was titled: CL. Over time, the magazine has changed its name and face many times, and has become more widely circulated across the world with editions in Spanish, English, French, Russian, Japanese, Brazilian, German...

The magazine has never considered itself ‘a newspaper,’ but a life that is written down. In fact, in all these years, the subtitle Litterae Communionis has been kept to indicate that "it is not a magazine like any other, it is not born from a 'political position' or thought, but from an experience that is communicated." From the beginning to the present, the magazine has been a space open to anyone who wants to collaborate with it, to anyone who has ‘a life to communicate,’ to recount how the Christian experience changes the way we look at and deal with everyone's circumstances and the great changes in history. The hallmark of this endeavor has always been that of encounter: with the great witnesses of the faith, with people of different religions and cultures, with intellectuals, artists, and personalities from society, the Church, and politics. Above all, the magazine has always lived off the contribution of the people of the movement scattered around the world, in search of the ‘traces’ of the Mystery. Fr. Giussani always invited everyone to recount their experience to the magazine, to witness how Christianity continues to happen, because – he said – "we live off what we see."

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this road and out of gratitude for it to continue, the editorial staff will create a Traces Arena at the upcoming Rimini Meeting: a daily cycle of live dialogues, which will address current topics through live testimonies, to get to know some of the Meeting’s guests better. And to relive together "50 years of history, 50 years of people living."

We will host friends from many different countries to talk about family, education, justice, the care for life, music, photography... they will tell us about our time through their experience. A special moment will be dedicated to the presentation of a project very dear to the Fraternity of CL, a new podcast dedicated to the Gospel encounters, told by the real voice of Fr. Giussani.

All the appointments will take place in the dedicated space – Hall A3 – where there will be the opportunity to meet the editorial staff and ask for information about the magazine (at the booth that was traditionally located the South Hall). There will be no lack of surprises.

Access to the meetings is free.
We look forward to seeing you in Rimini!
