Dear friends,

In my name and in the name of the whole movement of Communion and Liberation, I want to express my gratitude and my affectionate closeness on this decisive day in your life, in which through the imposition of hands by our dear Msgr. Paolo Pezzi, Archbishop of the Mother of God in Moscow, you will receive Ordination as priests and deacons.

In front of the Church and the world, you will make the risen Christ present with your generous, total, and definitive “yes”. It is Christ who, as Pope Francis wrote in his Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit, “wants to make us sharers in the new life of the resurrection. He is the true youthfulness of a world grown old, the youthfulness of a universe waiting ‘in travail’ (Rom 8:22) to be clothed with his light and to live his life” (n. 32).

I want to thank, including also your dear parents and the friends who have accompanied you up to this day, your superiors, and in a particular way Father Paolo Sottopietra, to whom I renew the congratulations for his reelection as Superior General of the Fraternity of Saint Charles.

Clothed with the light and life of Christ, you can now bring the beauty of Father Giussani’s charism to the world with faithfulness, freshness, and creativity, collaborating in the life of the movement for the hope of our brothers and sisters.
