Over Eighty, and My Life Begins Every Day

When José, a retired Colombian professor, and his wife Consuelo followed their daughter and her husband to a D.C. summer vacation, they too watched the event happen, and at the final assembly, witnessed the happiness they encountered there.

We knew Gianfranco and Nancy were members of a group that had some certain qualities we had heard about. And one could no less than admire.

Then we met some members of the group on a few different occasions, and each time, we were very impressed by their happiness and the strong feeling of caring that each member of the group radiated to all the others.

As a consequence, Gianfranco and Nancy decided to invite us to the last New York Encounter, and since they saw how happy we were, they again thought we would enjoy participating in the annual summer vacation and therefore invited us again.

God bless Gianfranco and Nancy for this. Consuelo and I had four very happy days. Thank you for everything: your friendship, your prayers, your songs, your happiness, but above all, thank you for allowing us to enter this environment of faith, so real that I thought that I could even touch it with my own hands.

At my age, when I came I thought that my life was ending and I had to enjoy the few days I had left. Now I think my life is not ending, but my life begins every day.

My wife writes, “For me, it has been a privilege, a grace of God to have been able to share in these unforgettable days with you. I admire many things about you, among which are the familiarity, kindness, and happiness that radiate from all of you, your availability to serve, simply for the fact of living with Christ—having God as the most important thing in your lives.”

I congratulate with all my heart those of you who from your youth have been involved with this Movement.
