I watched Cavani's Francesco recently and the words of the Pope Francis came to mind. In his letter to us, quoting Augustine: "Saint Augustine teaches us, “There are certain persons who are more ready to distribute all their goods to the poor, than themselves to become the poor of God”.

There is a particular moment where Francis father wants to pay for all the poor to have food, in exchange for having his son back. Francis sends a message to his father saying "sell everything and come and live with me". The Father is infuriated at the proposal and rejects it—much like the rich young man who goes away sad because he had "many possessions". It is very much like what Pope Francis says—this isn't a liberal program, this isn't about not having "things", but really about learning how to love in a real way.
