Who was Jesús Carrascosa

A militant in an anarchist-Christian movement, Jesús Carrascosa met Fr. Giussani in the mid-1970s. It was an encounter that marked his return to the Church and the beginning of CL in Spain. In 1978 he collaborated in the creation of the publishing house Ediciones Encuentro and from 1979 he dedicated himself to teaching in several high schools in Madrid. In 1997 he was called to Italy by Fr. Giussani to collaborate in the creation of the International Office of Communion and Liberation, inaugurated in Rome in 2000 and of which he was director until 2006. Together with his wife Jone, he played a fundamental role in CL’s relations with Saint John Paul II in the last years of his pontificate. In 2022, at the age of 83, he meekly accepted the request to take on the responsibility of CL in Spain, entrusted to him by the Central Diaconia of the Fraternity.
